Celebrating Sauvignon Blanc Day

Sauvignon Blanc day falls on the 7th of May each year. We thought  we’d take the opportunity to introduce you to our Ata Rangi Te Wā Sauvignon Blanc.

Te Wā, ‘time and place’ in Te Reo Māori, pays homage to the distinctive wine style delivered by the stony, alluvial gravels and cool climate of the Martinborough Terrace.

We ferment portions of this wine just as we do our red wine - both whole bunch and on-skins. This results in a savoury texture and an exotic spice lift to the aroma.

Think grapefruit, guava and Vietnamese mint on the nose, complimented by a palate with flavours of ginger, lemongrass and cinnamon.

Celebrate the diversity of NZ’s beloved Sauvignon Blanc grape by grabbing a bottle to try for yourself from our online store (Aus & NZ only).

From stony, alluvial gravels and partially fermented on skins and in barrels, this wine starts with a perfume of pineapple and guava, an underlay of green rind and lavender characters. As it warms, a more subtle, stony minerality floats to the fore. In the mouth it feels young and vibrant, with bright fruit, a slippery texture and rapier acidity. A round, pithy grapefruit finish closes things out. Still a baby, this should blossom in another few years and gain boatloads of complexity with time. Drink 2021–2030
