2021 season
A warm early start to the season was punctuated with cool frosty Spring mornings. Tricky wet, cool weather through November and December reduced the success of flowering and as a result we got incredibly small bunches and low yields. The summer fluctuated between cool periods and intense warmth, leaving the season tracking just above average in terms of heat accumulation. March was settled, with one of the longest dry spells over harvest we can remember. Perfect for bringing in clean, perfectly ripe, intense fruit. The frosts made its mark on our McCrone Vineyard, hence no single vineyard wine was made from this site in 2021.
2019 was a stellar year, and the McCrone from this year is outstanding. A powerfully elegant wine, the decision to hold this wine back to release it with the 2021’s has allowed this wine to evolve beautifully.
